Child pages and when to use them
What are child pages
Child pages are pages that sit underneath a parent page in the site hierarchy. Child pages are linked to from the parent page.
Child pages only pertain to Guidance page types and cannot be created for any other page type.
Below is the hierarchy of page types:
- Guidance
- Guidance child
Note: You can have a Guidance page with multiple Guidance child pages.
Identifying the current content type
Only editors are able to identify the content types of each page. To do so, make sure you are logged in, go to the page you want to work with and then click the 'edit' button on the interface.
At the top of the page it will now say 'Edit >CONTENT TYPE< >TITLE<'. For example, it could say:
Edit Guidance Child Rights, Relationships and Respect at ANU
Where Guidance child is the content type and the remainder is the title of the page.
Adding a child page
To add a Guidance Child page and nest it under the parent guidance page, you select the 'add content' button and select the Guidance Child content type. Under the first tab, you will be required to set the parent guidance page (note this must be a guidance page and cannot be another child page). You can start typing the name of the page to help you find it.
